The Manger’s job was to get orders and collect payments

In the office area
Marketing manager
Aunt Manisha works as a Marketing Manager with an apparel brand. She had invited both the girls to come down to her office. They reached the office area, which was a popular commercial corner of the city with offices all round. Boards showing the names of companies, bank and courier services greeted them.

The girl went to Mahasha’s office. On the way, they saw a large room with workstations that included a computer and a telephone. Aunt Manisha’s involved planing the sales for the entire year and supervising the job of twenty five territory Managers.
The Manger’s job was to get orders and collect payments. The region under her supervision was divided into zones and they all met once in fifteen days to review the progress and analyse the difficulties they were facing.
For this, she got a regular, handsome salary. Since she was a permanent worker, she also earned various benefits; such as saving for old age; holidays (annual leave and medical leave without any pay cut); and medical facilities (the company bears medical expenditure for her and her family members). Aunt Manisha had to attend some urgent work at the company’s workshop and so, the girls also decided to accompany her. They sat in her car and headed towards the factory area. As they reached near their destination, the streets were getting narrower and extremely crowded.

Business person

In the market, they came across shops with an attractive variety of food. As compared to the pavement shops, these shops were big, we – maintained and stocked with good quality stuff. There were shops selling clothes, sweets, electronic goods, footwear, fast food, jewelry and books. Apart from these, there were banks, courier shops, clinics and restaurants.
Some of the stores were multi – Storeyed with well – dressed and educated supervisors, floor – managers and sales representatives. Individuals owned these shops and they needed to obtain a permit from the Municipal Corporation for their operation.

Business person
In the market, Aahana and Teesta entered a multi Storeyed shop selling a variety of clothes for all age groups. The shop had a variety of ethnic as well as modern, trendy wear of both international and Indian brands. It also sold accessories, perfumes, watches, footwear and toys.
Supervisors and helpers
The shop had a number of supervisors and helpers. Since they were curious about the functioning of the shop, the owner informed the girls that his father had opened a small shop five years ago. After he completed his MBA, he joined his father’s business and opened this showroom. He bought the goods in bulk from the wholesale market. He even got items from the national and international market and displayed them in the space allocated for each brand.

Adventure of Snake – boat travel

Adventure sports
Some important adventure water sports are Scuba diving, White river rafting, Sea surfing, Hang Gliding and Mountain King.
Look out for age restrictions while taking up an adventure sport. Some adventure sports are not open to people of all ages.
River rafting
Certain adventure sports can take place only in specific locations, during a particular season. We have to travel to a place on the banks of a river for white river rafting and to a place near the sea, for sea rafting.

Silambam
This involves the art of fencing with both hands on the Silambam (staff). This Silambam staff has also enjoyed international fame. Romans, Greeks and Egyptians bought the Staffs in Madurai! This art form traveled to Malaysia where it is a recreational activity and also a method of self – defense.
Kerala’s `sanake – boat’ race is the largest team sport in the world. On the second Saturday of August, every year, boat men vie for the Nehru trophy on the waters of Alapzzha.
The `Chudan Vallams’ ( Snake – Boats) are 100 – 130 feet long. They can carry 4 helmsmen, 25 singers and 100 -125 Oaramen! The oars push through the waters keeping in stride to the beat of the fast rhythm of the Vanchipattu or boatman song’. Boats are smeared with oil so that they can glide smoothly in the water. Prayers are offered in temples prior to the race. Smaller boats like Churulan, Veppu, Odi etc., also take part in the races. Women too row the boats!

Rock climbing is my hobby

 Adventure sports
The simplest of adventure ports are trekking, swimming, cycling, skating, tree climbing, and rock climbing. All these activities are to be carried out under the supervision of a professional guide and all safety precautionary measures must be taken to avoid accidents and injuries. Use of safety equipment is a must - a skater has to use a helmet to protect his head. Use of helmet is a must in mountain biking. headgear, ropes and other safety tools are used when one goes up a rocky mountain.

Everybody may not like to climb and it is not proper to force friends to climb a tree or a rock. For those who can, it is fun. Often, others also join in once they know it is safe! A professional guide must be available for help. Safety quinines must be strictly followed.

When you first look at a huge rock, the first thought that comes into your head is oh, I can’t climb that! Then you take a step towards it with hesitation. Finally, you conquer your fears and then you start climbing it, with the help of your guide. When you reach the top the rock, you experience a thrill and a joy. Your confidence gets a terrific boost! Adventure sports, under proper professional supervision, is not only fun. It makes you feel to finally have achieved what you thought was impossible!
In mountaineering, you are not competing with anyone.. there is no prize waiting for you when you reach the top of a mountain. Then only do people climb mountains? George Mallory, a great mountaineer, was asked why he wanted to climb the Everest. Mallory replied, because it’s there’.
The foothills of the Himalayas beckon mountain climbers! Himachal Pradesh, Garhwal, Kumaon and Ladakh have steep mountains to climb. Sikkim and N.E India too are good mountaineering destinations.

The tourist place of Taj Mahal

Lovers visiting lovely place
The wonderful Taj Mahal is in Agra. This historical monument is in a good location. The monument is a bank of Yamuna River. It was built by the Muslim King Sha Jahan. The Muslim King Auranszeb held his father Sha Jahan imprisoned here. Shah Jahan was able to look across the bend of the river to the Taj Mahal.

Building construction
Sha Jahan started to build the mausoleum in 1632 for his beloved wife. Queen Arjamand Babnu Begum, one of whose titles was Mumtaz. It took 20 years to be completed.
Art and Architecture
The chief architecture is said to have been Ustad Isa (an Iranian) and Italian, Voerrones is said to have prepared plants and estimates. Made of pure white marble stone from Jaipur, the mausoleum stands in the middle of a building on a square platform. All round the building at a considerable height from floor level, are inlaid on the white marble walls, in black marble and in the large Nashk Talik script, verses from the Quran; so skilfully and with such a true sense of perspective and mathematical accuracy has this been done that the upper reaches of the characters are in perfect proportion and size compared with the lowest.
Now this Taj Mahal beauty going to damage way by the effecting of factories.

Mathura was a beautiful city and with a number of Shrines

Ancient Mathura
Mathura had been an important settlement for more than 2,500 years. The reasons for its importance were several. One most important reason was that it was located at crossed of the two major routes of travel and trade, from the north – west to the east and from north to south. Mathura was a beautiful city with fortification around it. It also had a number of shrines. Farmers and herders from adjoining areas provided food for people in the city.
The Kushanas made Mathura their second capital around 2,000 years ago. Their two major centers of power were Peshawar and Mathura. Taxila was also included in their kingdom. The Kushanas were amongst the earliest rulers to issue gold coins.

Mathura was a big religious center too, having Buddhist monasteries and Jain shrines, and it was an important center for the worship of Lord Krishna. Inscription on the surface of stone slabs and statues have been found in Mathura.
These inscriptions are short but tell a lot about the society of that time. Gifts given by men and women to monasteries are mentioned. Whatever grants and gifts, kings and queens, officers, merchants and crafts person made are recorded in this inscription. A broader view of society is also understood from these inscriptions. They also mention goldsmith, weavers, blacksmiths, basket – makers, garlands -makers and performers.

Beautiful arts and architecture constructed by Kings Satavahanas

Powers of the Deccan
The Satavahanas ruled the Deccan for nearly 300 years. They were also known as Andhras. The powerful rulers of this empire were Shri Satakarni, Vashishtiputra Pulumayi and Yajnasri Satakarni was the most powerful of them all. The inscription composed by his mother, Gautami Balashri gives detailed information about Shri Satakarni. Pratisthana (modern Paithan in Maharashtra) was their capital. Satavahana rulers were given the title lords of the Dakshinapatha, literally the route leading to the south, which was also used as a name for the entire southern region. Shri Gowtamiputra Satakarni sent his army to the eastern, western and southern coasts. Gowthamiputra Satakarni brought many Vedic rites back to practice. He was tolerant of other faiths. The Satavahanas established a powerful empire.

Dharma and society
Satavahanas were adherents of Vaidika Dharma. They would perform sacrifices like Aswamedha and other sacrifices (yagas). Under their rule the foreign citizens who chose to live in India, would voluntarily accept Hindu or Buddhist faiths and named their children after Hindu and Buddhist gods and great persons. Worshipped Shiva and Vishnu. They mixed with the society as sugar would mix with milk. Women were respected. They held properties and donated liberally to the dharmic centres.

Art and Architecture
Satavahanas contributed considerably to architecture. Three types of architecture that developed during their time are Chaithyas, Viharas and Stupas. Chaithyas are the prayer halls of Buddhists and Viharas are the living places of Buddha Bhikshus.
There structures are carved into big rocks. The Chaithya near Karle in Maharashtra is very big and beautiful. The Chaitya near Kancheri is famous. Viharas are carved into the rocks situated near a Chaithya. The Stupa at Amaravthi in Andhra Pradesh is built of marble and is artistic. We can see Satavahana at Sannati in Gulbargha district and at Banavasi in Uttara Kannada districts.

Tree lover

We use trees for many purposes
Trees and plants, like us, are living beings. They have feelings just as we do. Green trees are very important for the environment. They keep the air clean. They give shade on a hot sunny day. They shelter to many birds, animals and insects. All these creatures would become homeless if trees are cut down. If more and more trees are cut down, all the forests would be destroyed. The air would become unclean and harmful to all living creatures. Many types of animals and birds would die out completely if forests are destroyed.

We use trees for many purposes. Sometimes we become greedy and destroy forests thoughtlessly for our own gains. Cutting down of trees should be kept under check. It should be balanced by planting new trees. We should value them because they help us in many ways.
True devotion to God makes us understand our duties towards everybody and everything around us. It makes us see God in our fellow creatures. By serving our fellow creatures, we actually serve God.

The duty of parents

The duty of parents
Duty is something we ought to do willingly. Our parents have the duty of taking care of us when we are growing up. We too have the duty of looking after our parents and taking care of them when we grow up. In addition to our parents, we should also be dutiful to our siblings, our teachers and our friends. We do not live alone in society. So we must remain dutiful towards our fellow beings. The environment we stay in can also be kept clean and healthy if each one of us performs our duties towards it. Before doing something, we must always think if we are acting against the duties meant for us.
Love on parents
Shravan served his blind parents with much love and care. His aging parents wished to go on a pilgrimage to the holy places in India. Sharvan made a special carrier for his parents, lifted it on his shoulder and started out on the journey. He took them to many holy places.

Self – confidence makes us trust ourselves

Lessons for life
Self confidence
Self – confidence makes us trust ourselves. It makes us feel sure of what we can do. It also gives us the courage to try out new things. People are different in the world. You and your friend are not the same. You have your own weaknesses and strengths. You should trust your strengths and not let your weaknesses put you down because of self – doubt and anxiety. You try it, your strengths can help you overcome your weaknesses. But for this to happen, you need to be confident about yourself. You need to have faith in what you can do.
Resourcefulness makes a person strong and independent. Resourceful people are usually very brave and confident. They can give others a lot of support and help them in times of need.

Self people
Human beings have the rare ability to think about others and live by sharing everything with others. The ability to share shows how kind we are and how much we care for others.
Selfish people want to to have everything for themselves. They don’t care if others are in pain, in deed or in difficulty. But by being selfish they miss cut on the joy that they could have through sharing. Our happiness becomes sweeter if we let others be a part of it. It will be easier for us to deal with sorrow and pain if we share it with others.
We do not live alone in the world. We are always with other people. By sharing what we have with others, we can have friendly and harmonious relations with everybody around us.
We do not alone in the world. We are always with other people. By sharing what we have with others, we can have friendly and harmonious relations with everybody around us.

Visit Beautiful queen Jodhabai palace and other places

Building constructions and the architecture
Akbar established a new capital at Fatehpur Sikri, about 36 km. From Agra. This city was known for its magnificent Mughal monuments built in red – stone. Notable among them were the Diwan -i – khas. Panch – Mahal, Jodha – bai’s palace, Ibadat – Khana Buland – Darwaza. Akbar also built massive forts and palaces at Agra. He encourged the art of painting and established royal workshops, were painters from different parts of the empire gathered and worked.
 Jodha Bai
The most impressive buildings built by Akbar are to be found at Fatehpur Sikri which remained the imperial capital from 1569 to 1584. the construction of the new capital at Sikri, near the place where Babur defeated Rana Sanga, started in 1569 and took six – seven years to complete. It was built in honour of the famous Sufi saint, Salim Chishti. It is an example of a Mughal walled city with private and public buildings and imposing gateways.
The architecture at Fatehpur Sikri reflects a new impetus to the movement towards the fusion of the Islamic (Turko – Afghan and Central Asian) features with the local architectural tradition that began during the Sultanate period. Among examples we may mention the brackets in Jodha Bai's palace and the imitations of wood carving in the surface decorations, both of which were inspired by the building tradition of Gujarat. The decorative carving in the Turkish Sultana's (Mariam Zamani Begum) house even show some Chinese influence in the description of clouds.

The beautiful Gommateswara statue at Shravanabelagola

Chavundaraya arranged the celebration of Mahamastaka Abisheka to the idol of Bahubali. But the milk did not reach the thigh of the icon, whatever be the quantity of milk poured. Disappointed, Chanvundaraya asked his guru for the reason. The guru asked him to pour milk brought by an old woman in a hollowed round brinjal. Gullakayi is a round variety of brinjal.
When the guru’s command was obeyed, the milk poured on the head of the idol drenched the whole body and flowed over. The word Gullakayi Ajji was coined. The milk that overflowed, filled the tanks and their water became white. So the place acquired the name Bel + Kola (white tank). As Jain saints (Shravanas) lived there it is called Shavana Belagola.

Gommateswara statue at Shravanabelagola
Shravana Belagola reminds us of the great monolith statue of Bahubali (Gomateswara). Bahubali is the symbol of sacrifice and detachment. They are the noblest Indian values.
The word `Gomamata’ means the beautiful’. Don’t pride when we remember that Gommateswara statue at Shravanabelagola is the tallest monolith statue in the world. Not only that, it is one thousand old. The highest of the statue standing majestically atop the hill (Dodda Betta) is 17.4 meters (58 feet). The credit for getting this statue sculpted and erected goes to Chavundaraya, a minister of the king Rachamalla – IV of the Ganges. There is an interesting story about erecting of Gommata statue.
