One Should Not Convert The Accidental Incidence For Same Benefit

It was a thick forest. A jackal was living in it. Once he was wandering here and there. While roaming he reached the borders of a town. There was a washerman’s house. One indigo pot was kept in the courtyard. The jackal unnoticed fell into the pot.
The jackal tried to come out of the pot. But he was unable to do so. He remained there till morning.

In the morning the washerwoman saw the jackal in the pot. He was astonished. The jackal behaved as if he is dead. The washerman felt then is dead. So he lifted the animal out of it took him to far off place and threw him. The jackal without seeing ran away.
In the forest, he found himself turned blue.
Oh! What a pity it is? I am turning blue. I am entirely a different one. Why should I not make use of this opportunity for any benefit’ he thought over. He meditated for some time.
He called other jackals and said, look, the goddess of the forest has installed me as the king of the forest. Therefore, from today all of you have to obey my orders. You see, the goddess has sprinkled on me the pure juice. This is the indication of the power I have obtained’.
The other Jackals saw the color and presumed that he is another animal and what he is saying is correct. They saluted and said that they obey him.
Gradually, the blue jackal was made the king and even other animals also treated him as their king. The tiger, the lion and other wild animals became his servants. From that moment the jackal felt that other jackals are not eligible to be present in his court. He discarded them.
An old jackal got annoyed and called his fellow jackals and said, friends, do not worry I shall look into it’. He declared the king is a Jackal. The tiger and others were deceived by the color of the jackal. They were unable to recognize him as a jackal and fully considered him as the king.
But one cannot be changed either by changing his color or dress. If a dog is made the king does he leave biting bones? One or the other e he will bark and soon be noticed by others that he is a dog.
Once the jackal raised his voice to frighten other animals. Then he shouted. The tiger immediately discovered that the new king is there a jackal. He killed the blue jackal.
One may think that he can fool others. Of course he can fool many. But he cannot fool others at all times. The jackal though thought that he can make all animals obey him failed to do so as he opened his mouth. How long he could have kept quiet?
One should not convert the accidental incidence for the same benefit.

The Fox and The Geese

One day a fox saw a flock of geese. Stealthily he managed to get amidst them. He was very happy, thinking that he would have a grand feast. The geese were very scared. The leader of the flock knew that even if they were to fly, some of them would be caught and killed by the fox. And it did not want any of its family members to die. So it thought of a plan.

`O Mr. Fox’ said the leader. You have caught us all anyway. You can eat us any time you want. At least allow us to say our last prayers’.

The fox thought over this and agreed. He wanted to be generous. The leader signaled to the flock and honked loudly three times. The goose next to it picked and honked. The next one continued and so it went on till the fox was almost driven mad with the constant honking. At last, unable to bear the noise any more the fox ran away from there.

The flock of geese honked once more together and flew away happily.

The Clever Astrologer

A king of a certain country had the habit of inviting astrologers to his palace to predict the future. If he heard anything disagreeable he would immediately punish the astrologer. If what he heard was pleasant the astrologer would be rewarded handsomely. For fear of their lives, all the astrologers of that country had forecast that only good would happen to the king.

One day an astrologer from a far off place wandered into the kingdom. He was brought before the king. But no one had warned him of the king’s preference of listening to good feature only. Some of what he said displeased the king. He wanted the astrologer to be beheaded. Well, do you know how long you are going to live? Asked the king.

Sensing danger, the astrologer replied immediately. Of course, Your Majesty. I can see my life coming to an end just three days before your Majesty’s.
Hearing this clever answer the king’s anger disappeared. He rewarded the astrologer and made him one of his courtiers.
